1.    From connectcarolina.unc.edu, student selects “Login to Student Center” button, and logs into his/her Student Center.

2.    Under the Finance section, click on the “Pay Bills/Manage Student Finances” link.

3.    Student will be redirected to the UNC Chapel Hill Student Account Site.  Please make sure that pop-up blocker is turned off or disabled.

4.    Click on the Authorized Users tab.  From this page, student can give others (parents, employers, etc.) the ability to access your account information.

5.    Student will be presented with an Agreement to Add Authorized User screen. Check the “I Agree” Box and
Press “Continue.”

6.    The Authorized User will receive TWO emails.  The First email will be an automated message informing the user that a student has granted access to his or her online student account.  The SECOND email will include a temporary password that the authorized user will use to log in the first time.  The temporary password must be changed upon logging into the system for the first time.

How to Set up Proxy Access For ConnectCarolina Non-Billing Information

These instructions guide the student and his or her proxy through the process of establishing proxy access to the student’s non-billing information. There are four parts to granting access. They are listed below and detailed in this document.

PART ONE: Student Invites a Third Party to Establish Proxy Access

PART THREE: Student Grants Access to the Third Party
PART FOUR: Proxy Has Access
PART ONE: Student Invites a Third Party to Establish Proxy Access

1.    Student logs in to ConnectCarolina Student Center, selects Home (upper right) which takes the student to the ConnectCarolina portal. There, the student selects “Self Service” and selects the “Invite Third Party Proxy” link.

2.    Student completes the proxy invitation form. See below:

Once the completed Proxy Invitation form is submitted, the student will receive a confirmation page. An email is generated to the invited proxy (see next step). An email will be sent to the student when the new proxy has successfully created an account.

PART TWO: Third Party Registers as a Proxy
1. The third party receives and email with the subject line: Invitation to Register as a Proxy on Behalf of a Student.  The email includes a link to the Third Party Registration Page, shown below.

2.    The proxy completes the form, filling in the email address (which will serve as the Guest ID), Social Security Number (not required, but helps to prevent duplicate IDs and mismatches with other people with similar names and birthdates), Full Legal Name, Gender and Date of Birth, as well as address information.
3.    Upon submission of the completed form, the proxy is sent a password reset email with a temporary password. The email includes a link to the Change Password page.

4.    At the password reset page, the proxy creates and confirms a new password and clicks continue.

5.    The student receives an email indicating that the proxy has now set up an account. The email contains instructions for the student to proceed with granting access.

PART THREE: Student Grants Access to the Third Party
1.     Student logs in to ConnectCarolina Student Center, selects Home (upper right) which takes the student to the ConnectCarolina portal. There, the student selects “Self Service” and selects the “Manage Non-billing Access” link.

2.    Student enters the proxy’s Guest ID (email) or ONYEN (if the proxy has an ONYEN), first name and last name and then clicks the validate button.

3.    Student completes “Share My Access” portion of page, indicating the access that he/she is granting.

PART FOUR: Proxy Has Access
1.    The proxy receives an email confirming access to the student’s account.
2.    The proxy goes to connectcarolina.unc.edu and under “Proxy/Authorized Users” selects the “Login to View ConnectCarolina Student Information” link.

3.    This will lead to the Proxy Section which contains a list of students who have granted the proxy access.   Clicking on the student’s name will take the proxy to a page which contains links to the various services the proxy has authorized the proxy to view.  The list will vary based on the options the student selected
