Update: FERPA Training

Update: FERPA Training
Wednesday, 02 September 2009

The ConnectCarolina training team, in conjunction with the Office of the University Registrar (OUR), has created an online training module on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). FERPA is the federal law that governs the security of students' educational records. This course reflects the University’s commitment to providing secure access to and maintaining the confidentiality of student records in the PeopleSoft environment.

FERPA training is required for all new PeopleSoft users.

This training will:

  • Serve to refresh users’ knowledge of FERPA
  • Familiarize users with the FERPA Restricted Directory service indicator in PeopleSoft

The learning module and the required 10-question quiz will take approximately 30 minutes. Passing the quiz requires a score of 100%; the quiz may be taken as many times as are necessary to achieve a passing score.

The FERPA Training course may be taken at any time via the Blackboard Learning Management System. Log in with an Onyen and password. The access code for the FERPA Training course is RAM@UNC.
